PDP7 - The Vietnamese Declaration of Independence
Author Bio: The author of this document is Ho Chi Minh, a Vietnamese nationalist leader. He has formed the French Communist Party and the Vietnamese Communist Party. Now during the Cold War he is trying to prevent French takeover of Vietnam again. He is biased towards the independence of Vietnam because that is his home country.
Date/Context: This fits into our unit during the post WWII era, and relates to other countries who have gained independence from those bigger colonilizing countries. Just like countries such as India they wanted to be independent from any other mother country. This fits into the imperial age because France is ruling with force.
Summary: This document is about declaring Vietnamese independence from any other country. The Vietnamese people want to gain back what the French Imperialists have taken from them. Such as their schools, their food and crops, and their economic system. The French have stripped everything from them. The Vietnamese people are tired of their country being passed around and "protected."
Key Quotation: "All men are created equal.".
